I went to a property networking event – now what? (Part 6)

This blog post follows on from I went to a property networking event part 5 here…

You’ve followed up – now make that sale

Pretty much everyone at a networking event has something to sell – fact. The point is, while we are networking we don’t try and make a sale. If we did these events would just become marketplaces to buy and sell services and not a place to build relationships and explore adding real value to each other’s businesses.

But sales (and deals) are vital to every business and every network; without them would anyone bother to network? Confusing isn’t it!

So, how and when do you make the sale or close that deal?

You’ve done it all. You’ve been to the property networking event, you followed up all your contacts with a call and nurtured relationships on social media and even perhaps some email marketing – now you need to make the sale.

This is where a lot of people get stuck, but sales don’t make themselves – you have to make them happen. You have to have the confidence in what you are offering and actually ask the interested party whether they would like to proceed.

Super tips for building your confidence to make a sale

  • Remember they are already interested in what you have to offer
  • Remove any barriers to the sale beforehand, e.g. have everything you need in place
  • Remind yourself that it will get easier every time you do it. (Don’t stop believin’).
  • The worst that can happen is that they say no.

Networking is worth it – but it’s only as successful as you make it, and that means actively making that sale.
