About Steven Lai
I’m Steven Lai, today I am the founder of Super Developments and creator of CRM for Property Success.
Back in 2003, I had a full-time sales job at a tech start-up which over time stopped aligning with what I wanted to do and who I wanted to be. My son was born, my priorities shifted and something had to change.
I knew property was the answer, so I got myself properly property educated.
I quickly realised two core activities would be fundamental to my success – attracting great investors and finding deals.
Attracting great investors
When I started out, networking was awkward.
I didn’t know what to ask, what to capture, what to share or how to qualify if people were a good fit for my business.
Using a simple technique to make networking pain free and my CRM to capture and follow-up, I quickly built strong relationships with property professionals and investors I could call on.
Closing more deals
Deal sourcing was really time-consuming.
I’d be typically analysing 40 – 50 deals to find one that stacked up. This generated a lot of documents, spreadsheets, emails and phone calls to keep track of.
By configuring my CRM to efficiently manage my deal sourcing I simplified the process and saved myself a lot of wasted time.
Ultimately this allowed me to focus on closing the most profitable deals faster.

When I started talking about this to my property peers I discovered many didn’t understand what a CRM is, or how a CRM can be configured for property to make things easier.
