Step 6: Design your pipelines

You’ve already mapped your processes, so the hard work is done! Now you can really get into designing a pipeline to make these processes SO much easier. But a word of warning, however tempting it is don’t jump the gun and design your pipeline without mapping out your processes first. It’s a common pitfall, and you really don’t want to miss out that vital step.


Step 6: Design your pipelines

Remember, your pipeline is a workflow process broken into stages with several activities that sit underneath. It’s SUPER important that you map your processes first; otherwise, you risk missing out integral stages and activities. Remember, it’s about investing the time to save even more time, further down the line.

A pipeline looks a bit like this.

You’re going to need at least two. One for finding finance, the Investor pipeline, and the other to track your deals – the Deal Sourcing pipeline.

So how did we turn our mapped-out processes into a pipeline? We took our mind maps and workflows and translated them into a pipeline template. We needed to do this so that we could review it all in one place and test it to make sure it works.

Why did we test it? Well, you don’t want to ‘hard bake’ your pipelines into your CRM until you know it’s super slick and working for you!
